Insulation Services Attic, wall, duct and garage insulation from Phoenix duct & attic specialists

Having insulation isn't the same as having enough. Depth, coverage and the seal underneath, measured, not assumed.

Measured, not assumed

Having Insulation Isn’t the Same as Having Enough.

Every Valley home has some attic insulation. Very few have it deep enough, even enough, and sealed underneath. The attic floor is the one surface between a 140° attic and every ceiling in the house.

  • Depth measured at many points, not one look from the hatch
  • Insulation settles over time; decades of heat flatten loose fill, so we map the thin spots
  • New Blown-In Premium Fiberglass usually goes right over the old, to an even, measured depth
  • Top plates sealed first and vents kept open, so the blanket does its full job

The Depth Gauge

Depth Is Only the First Question. Coverage, Settling and Gaps Are the Rest.

Tap a depth to see what it does to the house below it.

3 to 6 inches. Common in older Valley homes, and what decades of settling leave behind. Heat crosses the ceiling all afternoon and into the night.
  • AfternoonsRooms run hot each afternoon
  • CeilingWarm to the touch; the thermal image glows
  • EveningsHeat keeps coming after sunset
  • BillsClimb faster than the weather explains

Six shortfalls we find

  • Settled. Decades of heat flatten loose fill.
  • Uneven. Deep by the hatch, thin in the far corners.
  • Compressed. Stored boxes and decking crush it.
  • Disturbed. Past repairs pushed it aside and never put it back.
  • Missing. Bare sections over closets, additions and low eaves.
  • Open top plates. Air gaps underneath that insulation alone can’t close.

What We Install

Insulation for the Attic, the Walls, the Ducts and the Garage

Each one exists because an assessment found something. Your package uses the ones your home needs.

Fresh white Blown-In Premium Fiberglass covering an attic floor evenly, rafters behind

The core of every attic plan

Blown-In Premium Fiberglass

Blown across the whole attic floor to an even, measured depth, usually right over the existing insulation. Ducts included.

A technician sealing the top plate of an interior wall in the attic with closed-cell foam

Seal first

Insulated Attic Armor™

Closed-cell foam at every top plate and penetration, so the new insulation covers a sealed ceiling.

Insulated Attic Armor™
Fiberglass batts strapped to a vertical knee wall in an attic

The walls a blower can’t cover

Knee Walls and Drill & Fill

Batts strapped to the vertical attic walls behind rooms; uninsulated walls and unreachable sections filled through small, patched openings.

An attic duct run sealed and encapsulated in Insulated Duct Armor foam, lying on the insulation

Highest recommended

Duct Insulation

Insulated Duct Armor™ seals and insulates the ducts you have, then the runs are dropped and buried under the blanket.

Garage Insulation

Blown-in above the garage, Drill & Fill in the shared walls, insulated door panels, an attic fan where that attic traps heat.

Let the attic breathe

Ventilation

Baffles keep the new insulation off the soffit vents, ridge and roof vents let the heat out high, a fan over the garage pushes trapped heat out.

Which Attic Solution, When

The Attic Is Corrected as a System. The Findings Decide How Much of It Yours Needs.

Several of these you may not need, and we’ll say so.

If the inspection finds What we recommend What it solves
Open top plates, warm walls, dust We recommendInsulated Attic Armor™ at every top plate and penetration, hatch and boots sealed It solvesAttic air into the walls and rooms, the “attic smell”, heat radiating from interior walls
Insulation thin, uneven, settled We recommendBlown-In Premium Fiberglass across the whole attic, over sealed plates and protected ducts It solvesHot afternoons, warm ceilings, evenings that don’t cool, runtime that grows every summer
Hot knee walls; sections nobody can reach We recommendKnee wall batts strapped in place; Drill & Fill for uninsulated walls and unreachable sections It solvesThe bare corners and vertical walls a blower can’t cover, glowing on the thermal camera
Soffits buried, no exhaust, a hot attic at bedtime We recommendBaffles and ridge or roof vents; an attic fan over the garage where that attic traps heat It solvesStored heat after sunset; ducts soaking in hot air into the night
Dark roof over unprotected ducts We recommendRadiant barrier, evaluated case by case after the above It solvesDownward heat from the deck. Only worth it in some attics; we say which
The order, and why: seal, protect the ducts, insulate, ventilate. Insulation goes down last so nothing gets disturbed afterward. Depth is set from the assessment’s twelve-point measurement and photographed as it goes in. Why the seal comes first

Questions

Insulation, Answered

Do you remove the old insulation first?
Usually not. It is common for insulation to settle over time, and in most attics new Blown-In Premium Fiberglass goes right over the old to an even, measured depth. Removal is an option in some circumstances, when the existing material makes it necessary, and we say so during the assessment.
Is topping it off enough on its own?
Not over open top plates, leaking ducts and blocked soffit vents; adding depth there locks those problems in. Seal, protect the ducts, insulate, ventilate.
How deep should it be?
We recommend 14 to 17 inches of even coverage across the whole attic floor, over sealed top plates. Today’s code minimum is 10 to 14 inches; many older Valley homes have 3 to 6.
What about knee walls and the sections nobody can reach?
Knee walls get batts strapped in place so the vertical attic walls stop radiating. Uninsulated walls and unreachable sections are filled by Drill & Fill through small, patched openings.
Will it fix my hot room?
Sometimes on its own, often not. A hot room usually has more than one cause, so the assessment measures the ducts, the returns and the attic over that room first.
How do you know how much to add?
The assessment measures depth at twelve points, images the ceilings and logs the attic temperature, so the plan sets the depth. The Energy Savings and Set-Point Holdfast guarantees are built from those numbers.

Damien Mendez at Knights of the Attic did an awesome job balancing our cooling system after the attic portion of the work was complete. Listened to us and made adjustments based on our issues/ needs. Thank you!

Every single one of their employees was personable, polite, punctual, and tidy. We had experience with Nick, Antonio, Jovan, Miguel, and Noah. Our house is significantly more comfortable. Our master suite is at the far end of the house and used to be 10 to 15° warmer than the rest of the home. We are sleeping so much better, thanks to Knights of the Attic! Highly recommend!

We have had a hot room upstairs since we moved in over a decade ago. Numerous AC companies told us different things, no solutions. These guys came out and fixed the airflow, sealed it up and everything is great now. I wish I called sooner honestly.
