Bronze Package

The Bronze Package is designed to correct poor HVAC duct system airflow, excessive duct system air pressure and unwanted duct system air leakage.  For best long term results, we always recommend correcting the fundamental performance of your duct system first before including additional services that will enhance these improvements.

Problems & Causes

  • Duct system exposure to extreme attic conditions degrades materials, causing duct system damage and air leakage

  • Undersized return (register, filter and/or duct) causing excess duct system air pressure, insufficient system airflow and reduced equipment cooling capacity output.

  • Undersized supply trunk ducts causing excess duct system air pressure, insufficient system airflow and reduced equipment cooling capacity output.

  • Duct air leakage causing reduced equipment cooling capacity delivered to home.

  • Dust/dirt from return air leakage accumulates on the blower wheel and evaporator coil causing reduced heat transfer capability.

  • Poor duct system design with flawed duct sizing and layout causing faulty room-level airflows.

  • Poor duct system installation with looped, coiled, sagging, kinked, crushed or otherwise restricted ducts causing faulty room-level airflows.

  • No room air pressure relief causing faulty room-level airflows with doors closed.

  • Duct system exposure to extreme attic conditions degrades materials causing duct system damage and air leakage.

  • Undersized return (register, filter and/or duct) causing excess duct system air pressure, insufficient system airflow and reduced equipment efficiency.

  • Undersized supply trunk ducts causing excess duct system air pressure, insufficient system airflow and reduced equipment efficiency.

  • No room air pressure relief causing air leakage with doors closed.

  • Poor original installation materials & practices (no sealing or duct tape vs. mastic) causing air leaks and disconnected ducts.
  • Excess duct system air pressure and blower strain, causing avoidable energy consumption.
  • Duct system air leakage, causing avoidable energy consumption.

  • Reduced system capacity output, causing avoidable energy consumption.
  • Longer system run times, causing avoidable energy consumption.
  • Duct system exposure to extreme attic conditions degrades materials causing full duct system failure and requiring replacement.

  • Excess duct system air pressure and long run times, causing the blower to work harder, generate excess heat and fail prematurely.
  • Excess refrigerant system pressure and long run times, causing the compressor to work harder, generate excess heat and fail prematurely.
  • Dust/dirt from return air leakage accumulates on the blower wheel and evaporator coil causing the blower to work harder, generate excess heat and fail prematurely.

  • Duct system exposure to extreme attic conditions degrades materials causing duct system damage and air leakage.
  • Undersized return (register & filter) causing excess air velocity at the filter face, reducing filter particle capture performance.

  • Poor original installation materials & practices (no sealing or duct tape vs. mastic) causing air leaks and disconnected ducts.
  • Supply side duct air leakage causing hot, unfiltered air to be drawn into the home from outside along with dirt, dust, and allergens.

  • Return side duct leakage causing hot, dirty, unfiltered air to be drawn into the home from the super-heated attic along with dirt, dust, and allergens.

  • Undersized return (register & filter) causing excess air velocity at the filter face, reducing filter particle capture performance.

  • Undersized return (register, filter, and/or duct) causing air turbulence and noise.

  • Duct air leakage causes hot, unfiltered air to be drawn into the home from the outside and/or attic along with dirt, dust, and allergens.

Design: Design the necessary duct system modifications, or a full replacement, to deliver the fundamental performance characteristics:

  • (a) proper total system airflow & pressure
  • (b) proper room-level airflow & optional pressure relief
  • (c) minimize duct air leakage.

System Airflow & Pressure: Install the designed duct modifications, or full replacement, to ensure a free-flowing duct system that delivers proper total system airflow & pressure.

image22

Room Airflow & Pressure Relief: Install the designed modifications, or full replacement, to ensure a balanced duct system that delivers proper room-level airflow. Optional: Install the designed modifications that deliver room pressure relief when doors are closed.

Commission: Commission the HVAC system to optimize equipment airflow and refrigerant charge, delivering maximum cooling capacity/output and energy efficiency.

Air Balance: Perform air balance on the duct system to deliver optimum room-level airflows.

Duct Air Leakage: Apply Aeroseal to seal duct air leaks.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced comfort from expanded equipment cooling capacity generated by the equipment to help the system keep up during summer peak temperatures.
  • Enhanced comfort from proper room-level airflow delivery.
  • Lower costs from reduced energy consumption.
  • Lower costs from reduced equipment & duct system wear and tear and lengthened life span.
  • Improved health from enhanced indoor air quality driven by reduced air leakage and improved filter performance.
  • Improved home satisfaction from reduced dust driven by reduced air leakage and improved filter performance, as well as reduced system noise driven by reduce air velocity through the system.

Peace of mind knowing our work is backed for decades.

Bronze Package Add-On’s For Equipment Life Extension

To ensure air flows effectively through your existing equipment, we may also recommend cleaning your evaporator coil and the blower wheel (if your system needs it), which often look something like this:

Before vs. After Evaporator Coil Cleaning:

Before vs. After Blower Wheel Cleaning:

Air Quality

If your system needs it, we recommend a duct cleaning to ensure maximum system efficiency. We will clean your ducts to remove years of accumulated dust and allergens as illustrated here:

Before vs. After Duct Cleaning:

By improving airflow, your equipment’s capacity and efficiency improves as well as extending its life since the blower motor does not have to work as hard.
